Termont Montreal will be the world’s first port operator to convert its entire fleet of terminal vehicles into hybrid models. The LOGISTEC joint venture will convert 57 terminal tractors into diesel-electric hybrid vehicles equipped with automatic stop-start technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Port of Montreal. The automatic stop-start technology is an electrical system that turns off the engine of terminal tractors when they are stationary, while keeping the cabin and the vehicle’s electronic and computer systems functional. The Quebec government is providing up to $1.4 million in financial support for the project.
