Port Saint John has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.
The UN Global Compact is a voluntary movement of responsible businesses committed to the 10 universal principles for achieving global sustainable development goals. By joining the compact, its members must assume certain responsibilities, such as publishing an annual report on corporate progress towards the integration of these principles.
“In line with our commitment to these principles, Port Saint John is proud to support the UN Global Compact, which fully aligns with our corporate strategy and vision,” Craig Bell Estabrooks, Port Saint John’s president and CEO, said when the port joined March 15th. “We are on a journey to decarbonize and ensure that our operations have minimal impact on people and the planet, and that we are not only safe and efficient, but also mindful of the social and economic needs of our region as we build a world-class port of choice.”
