The Washington Public Ports Association (WPPA) has named the Port of Everett as “The 2022 Port of the Year,” in recognition of its leadership in innovation in the Everett community and the port world.
This year’s selection of the Port of Everett was among the 74 ports located in the State of Washington. The port’s initiatives to help green the supply chain in line with its three business pillars of international shipping terminals, marina facilities and real estate development were taken into account in the port’s recognition.
In addition to prioritizing significant investment in the recreational waterfront, the port also took the lead in remediating historic contamination, working toward the cleanup of 215 acres (87 hectares) along the Everett waterfront. The port also restored the Blue Heron Slough estuary by adding 353 acres (almost 143 hectares) of critical salmon habitat in the Snohomish River.
