Port Metro Vancouver’s Noise Sentinel

Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) has installed eight noise monitors around Burrard Inlet to address increasing noise complaints from North Shore and Vancouver residents. To date, 21% of the complaints have been attributed to noise from vessels, 21% from terminal operation noise, and 9% from rail noise. The new monitors will help PMV identify the concerns and assist in the development of mitigation measures. Real-time information on recorded decibel levels is available to the public at the Port Metro Vancouver’s Noise Sentinel web page.
