Eyesea, a Green Marine partner based in New Zealand, was among 15 finalists chosen by Ocean Exchange for its Marine Pollution Solution competition.
Ocean Exchange, a Green Marine supporter, invited 15 of the 50 semi-finalists to present their innovations at its 13th annual competition for the Neptune Awards and the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Orcelle® Award.
The 15 finalists all met a specific Technology Readiness Level (TRL), ensuring their presented solution’s maturity and feasibility. Each finalist made a presentation to an audience consisting of business, academic, government and non-profits representatives who ultimately selected three winners.
Eyesea addresses marine pollution by facilitating community reporting and tracking of pollution incidents into what has become the world’s largest pollution database. The information helps organizations to better understand and manage pollution impacts on ecosystems, health, and economies.
The winners were announced at the end of October: The 2024 Neptune Awards went to Oyster Heaven, and to Phoenix Waste Solutions; and the 2024 Wallenius Wilhelmsen Orcelle® Award was given to CarbonBridge.
