The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), a Green Marine association member, and BIMCO, the world’s largest organization for ship owners, charterers, ship brokers and agents, have published a guide to help the shipping industry reduce underwater radiated noise from vessels that can be harmful to marine life.
Intended for ship owners and operators, the guide relates the International Maritime Organization (IMO) underwater noise guidelines, as well as the steps involved in establishing noise management plans.
The guide also conveys the scope of regulations in various regions, along with voluntary measures that can reduce operational costs and polluting emissions in addition to reducing underwater noise.
A copy of the guide can be purchased on the ICS website.
