Richmond, BC – Arrow Marine Services (AMS), a marine service, repair, and certification shipyard based in Richmond, B.C., is the newest participant in Green Marine, the most comprehensive voluntary environmental certification program for North America’s maritime industry.
"By joining the Green Marine program, Arrow Marine Services is signaling its dedication to minimizing its ecological footprint, embracing innovation, and fostering a greener maritime industry for a more sustainable future,” says Jacob Adams, the Arrow Group’s Director of Sustainability and Manager of Optimization.
“Our company is embarking on this process to exemplify the pivotal steps that it is taking towards harmonizing economic growth with ecological preservation in the maritime domain,” he adds. “Through this partnership, Arrow Marine Services is poised to amplify its positive impact, not only within its own operations, but also by setting an example for others in our industry to follow”.
AMS is already proactive in terms of sustainable development, as demonstrated by its sustainability roadmap. Decisions are based on the roadmap’s six major pillars, reflecting the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint as well as all other environmental impacts associated with its operations and services.
“We’re very pleased to have Arrow Marine Services within the program’s growing shipyard membership,” says David Bolduc, Green Marine’s President. “By participating in our environmental certification program, Arrow Marine Services is strengthening its commitment to the continual improvement of its environmental performance with further accountability and detailed reporting."
To achieve Green Marine’s certification, Arrow Marine Services will assess its environmental performance based on the program’s applicable performance indicators that address such issues as greenhouse gases and air pollutants, spill prevention, stormwater management, waste management, and community impacts. The annual certification process is rigorous and transparent, with the individual performance of each participant independently verified every two years, and annual results publicly released.
