Yellowline Asphalt Products Ltd. Joins Green Marine

April 7, 2015

Hamilton, Ontario – Centrally located within the Hamilton Port Authority (HPA), Yellowline Asphalt Products has signed on as a participant to Green Marine, the leading voluntary environmental initiative for the maritime industry on the continent.
Yellowline is entering its liquid asphalt cement terminal into the environmental certification program. Yellowline operates a brand new facility located on the Port’s redeveloped Pier 22.  »We completed our first full year of operation in 2014. Production, safety and environmental protection were our main focus areas and we are now putting our environmental initiatives into place as an important aspect of our overall performance towards the long term sustainability and growth of our terminal,” explained Suresh Daljeet, Yellowline Asphalt Products Ltd. Operations Manager.
Green Marine encourages its participants – ship owners, port authorities, terminal operators and shipyards – to undertake concrete actions that go beyond regulatory requirements. Green Marine’s success is based on a 7-year track record of participating companies demonstrating improvements in environmental performance.
HPA is a proactive participant within Green Marine and is pleased to see the Yellowline terminal joining the environmental program.  »Close working relationships between various Port users are instrumental in reaching greater sustainability. In embracing Green Marine, our terminal users show their commitment and willingness to work towards reducing the Port’s total environmental footprint”, said HPA President & CEO Bruce Wood. Other HPA Port Partners: Federal Marine Terminals, McAsphalt Industries, McKeil Marine and Sterling Fuels are also Green Marine participants.
»Having many tenants of the same port participating in the program keeps with the spirit of Green Marine”, added Green Marine Executive Director, David Bolduc.  »The environmental program encourages team work and information sharing, so when several key players at the same location are aiming at improving their performance, it is deemed to bring good results.”
