The International Windship Association is presenting for the second time its Wind Propulsion Innovation Awards, recognizing the best sustainable options for the world’s commercial shipping fleet.
The awards seek to highlight projects, technological innovations and/or key organizations or individuals making a real difference in advancing wind propulsion as a low carbon transportation option.
While the first awards in 2016 had four categories, this year’s awards features seven categories to better showcase the sector’s innovations and developments. The 2021 recognitions will be given through the Wind Propulsion Innovation Award, the Wind Propulsion Technology User Award, the Wind Propulsion Projects Award, the Small Vessel Sector Award, the Completed Research Award, the Proposed Research Award, and the Outstanding Contribution to the Wind Propulsion Sector Award.
The deadline for submissions is October 4, 2021, and the shortlist will be announced in mid-October. The voting period will then last three weeks with the winners announced during a virtual ceremony in early November, during the second week of COP26.
