West Coast ports highlight clean air progress on new website

June 1, 2026

The Northwest Seaport Alliance, the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma have unveiled a new website dedicated to tracking the efforts to reduce emissions from their port operations. The Northwest Clean Ports platform  – NWCleanPorts.com – provides a centralized source of information on clean air and climate initiatives across this regional gateway.

The portal consolidates information on the goals, strategies, and actions that the three port entities are implementing to reduce maritime emissions, improve air quality, and promote healthier communities around port facilities.

A key focus of the website is the implementation of the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy, a collaborative framework established in 2008 to align emissions-reduction efforts across the region. The platform offers access to information, data and timelines related to the strategy, which was updated in 2020 with a vision to phase out all seaport-related emissions by 2050.

The progress dashboard tracks accomplishments, milestones and ongoing initiatives. The website also provides an overview of actions by related transportation, including vessels, trucks and rail operations connected to cargo movement through Seattle and Tacoma. By consolidating data and implementation updates in one place, the platform aims to help stakeholders monitor progress toward the environmental goals shared by these ports.
