Founded in 2001, Tritium designs and manufactures proprietary hardware and software to create advanced and reliable DC (direct charge) fast chargers for electric vehicles (EVs). In 2020, Tritium became the first company in the world to implement Plug and Charge (ISO 15118) to make it possible for EVs and charging equipment to communicate, authenticate and transact seamlessly via a charging cable. A few years earlier it produced the world’s smallest footprint DC fast charger for EVs. Tritium also provided the battery power management system for the Deepsea Challenger that James Cameron (the well-known director) took to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The company’s very first product, the Golden Controller motor inverter, is still used by most of the world’s solar racing cars.
