The new Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal was opened by Washington State Ferries for the Mukilteo/Clinton route on Dec. 29, replacing a 63-year-old facility nearby.
Safer and more efficient, the new terminal was designed and built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards. The construction is certified as environmentally efficient with various measures integrated to save resources, including natural ventilation, radiant floor heating, solar panel energy, rainwater harvesting, stormwater treatment, and rain gardens.
Design to honour the site’s history, the terminal features natural and Indigenous-inspired aesthetics.
