In addition to the Wärtsilä 32 methanol engine introduced last year, Wärtsilä is developing four new engines capable of operating with methanol fuel.
The Wärtsilä 20, Wärtsilä 31, Wärtsilä 46F and Wärtsilä 46TS engines will be available for deliveries at different points from 2025 onwards.
The new engines are part of Wärtsilä’s commitment to developing corresponding methanol retrofit capabilities for its entire diesel engine portfolio, covering both new and currently operating engines. By making these engines capable of running on methanol, Wärtsilä is broadening its methanol offering to a wide range of vessels throughout the marine industry.
