The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) has introduced the Connect+ program to bring together certain supply chain data requirements to improve cargo traffic.
Unifying a recent suite of supply chain digitization and optimization projects at the port, Connect+ includes several collaborative initiatives focused on optimizing the planning and coordination of cargo movement at the Port of Vancouver. These include the port’s Active Vessel Traffic Management and the Container Visibility System Project to track containers as they move from a ship to their final destination quayside.
In addition to increasing operational reliability and efficiency, the program will help to enhance sustainability by reducing vessel waiting times, congestion, and unnecessary travel. Connect+ will also enable better data sharing within the port community and with industry partners regarding all supply chains moving through the port by ship, truck or rail.
The tool is adaptive and will accommodate new VFPA and industry initiatives over time.
