Great Lakes Towing christened two new tugs Dec. 17 as a live-streamed online event so that employees and colleagues could all take part while respecting COVID-19 safety protocols.
Named Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, the 64-foot (19.5-metre) ICE design harbour tugs were the fourth and fifth built by the Great Lakes Shipyard for the company. The new tugs have Canal Marine’s (a Green Marine Partner) Logan FlexaDrive hybrid system that facilitates the vessels operating frequently on electric power without having to use the more powerful main engines, thereby reducing air emissions as well as engine maintenance costs.
Watch the recorded live-streamed event.
