The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) awarded three Green Marine participants with the 2019 Environmental Improvement Awards in mid-October.
In the Comprehensive Environmental Management category, the Northwest Seaport Alliance won the award of distinction for its Clean Truck Program.
The Port of San Diego received the award of merit in the same Comprehensive Environmental Management category for Environmental Innovation through its Blue Economy Incubator Program, as well as the award of merit for Mitigation of GHG Emissions and Criteria Pollutants While Increasing Operations at the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal. The port also garnered the award of excellence in the Stakeholder Awareness, Education & Involvement category for its #ThatsMyBay Pollution Prevention Campaign.
In the Environmental Enhancement category, the Port of Seattle won the award of excellence for its Innovative Stormwater Operations and Treatment Technique project. It also obtained the award of distinction in the Mitigation category for the Formation of the PORTfolio Line of Business.
The AAPA has presented the environmental awards since 1973 to recognize the activities of benefit to the environment at its ports.
