The ports of Saguenay and Sept-Îles commit to the net-zero transition

November 25, 2025

The Port of Saguenay and the Port of Sept Îles have announced their participation in the Net Zero Challenge, joining the ports of Québec, Trois-Rivières, and Montréal. This commitment marks a key step forward in strengthening climate cooperation among ports along the Saguenay and St. Lawrence rivers.

The addition of these two ports strengthens an already well-established alliance focused on reducing emissions in Canada’s maritime sector. Together, the five port authorities aim to position the St. Lawrence–Saguenay corridor as an exemplary commercial hub founded on resilience and innovation.

Through this voluntary initiative, the ports commit to developing and implementing transition plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This joint mobilization demonstrates a clear pledge to a more sustainable maritime future and a coordinated regional effort to meet ambitious climate targets.
