On October 17th, the Port of Sept-Îles launched a unique citizenry consultation initiative called "Reimagine the Heart of Sept-Îles."
Recognizing that it's challenging to please everyone but eager to gather as many opinions and ideas possible to shape a city-port interface that ensures the port's economic prosperity while respecting its communities and the environment, the port is turning to a specially tailored digital platform for this endeavour.
The communities of Sept-Îles and Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam are invited to share their input until the end of November to inform the port’s direction of development.
The platform consists of two modules. The first module is for questions and answers, where residents can openly and transparently pose their questions to the port's team, regardless of subject. The second module is an idea box where individuals can submit development ideas for the port, whether related to dock access or land development. This module also includes a map of the port's territory. Users can also support an idea that has already been submitted through a "vote" feature.
Additionally, on November 1st, the port will host an in-person support and information day for citizens who may not be comfortable with the Internet or do not have easy access to it. These collected ideas will subsequently be posted on the platform.
This exercise stems from the strategic orientations adopted by the port during its most recent annual general meeting last May, aiming to enhance relationships with the community and stakeholder engagement by adopting an open and transparent governance approach.
