Following more than a year of reflection, the Port of Quebec has published its Vision 2035, which is intended to guide the port in its day-to-day decision-making toward its goals by that year.
This vision is the result of some 30 workshops and workgroup sessions, with the participation of approximately 100 stakeholders, all of which were conducted as part of the port’s 2023-2026 strategic plan.
Vision 2035 aims to lead the port to be "recognized by citizens for its responsible land management, respect for the environment and protection of biodiversity, while positioning itself as a global leader in the realization of sustainable supply chains for a more resilient economy."
“The maritime industry is transforming, the planet is warming, the community is interested in our projects, and our employees are seeking a working environment where they can grow,” said Mario Girard, the Quebec Port Authority’s President and CEO.
Innovation projects, decarbonation efforts, an intelligent corridor, territory beautification, port collaboration on the St. Lawrence, and a citizens’ platform are some of the plan’s major elements. “Thanks to the major initiatives to be deployed over the next three years, we will meet the challenges ahead,“ Girard said.
The 2035 vision is based on four major priorities: community, protection of the planet, international ambitions, and employees. Here are some of the goals the Port of Quebec hopes to achieve for each pillar:
Community engagement:
Protecting the planet:
International ambitions:
