The Port of Quebec and the Wendat Nation have finalized a new framework agreement that strengthens their collaborative efforts, particularly in environmental preservation and in maintaining harmonious relations with the community.
The agreement reaffirms both parties' commitment to working together to protect the territory, natural environments, and traditional Wendat practices, while considering current and future port activities. It establishes structured dialogue mechanisms to ensure that the environmental concerns of the Wendat Nation are more effectively integrated into the Port of Québec’s project planning, particularly regarding air, water, and soil quality, as well as biodiversity protection.
The renewed agreement promotes a sustainable development approach anchored in close collaboration with the Wendat community, notably through regular communication, information sharing, and the search for common solutions to reduce the impacts of port activities. It also aims to recognize and integrate traditional knowledge in project assessments and to support social, cultural and economic initiatives that benefit the Wendat Nation.
