The City of Montreal and the Montreal Port Authority sign the AIVP 2030 Agenda

May 3, 2023

By signing the AIVP 2030 Agenda, Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, and Martin Imbleau, the Montreal Port Authority’s president and CEO, have confirmed their willingness to work together on the city’s sustainable development.

In June 2018, AIVP network members adopted the AIVP 2030 Agenda at the World Conference of Cities and Ports in Quebec City. The AIVP 2030 Agenda includes 10 commitments that encompass the key challenges for port cities.

With the port having a pivotal role in the local economy, community dialogue, environment and decarbonization, both the city and port recognize the need to establish a stronger dialogue, to better coordinate their actions, and to further engage citizens in city-port discussions.

The solidification of this union is an important step forward in establishing a constructive city-port dialogue that holds promise for the port city’s sustainability.

Bruno Delisle, AIVP's director general, is inviting all port cities in the network to commit themselves to this path. “At the end of the year, AIVP will be proposing to its members a self-evaluation tool for their public policies regarding our agenda,” he says. “It is the moment when each port city should federate the energies of all the communities that comprise it and build a common future."
