Study conducted by the Port of Quebec on its greening efforts

August 30, 2024

The Port of Quebec has conducted a study of its urban forest in collaboration with CERFO. The research revealed that 28% of the port territory is covered with vegetation, including more than 6,500 trees. The study also assessed these trees' ecosystem services, such as reducing air pollution, managing stormwater runoff, mitigating urban heat islands, and increasing biodiversity.

Additionally, a 20-year projection was made to predict the impact of new tree plantations on these services. This initiative is part of the Port of Quebec's commitment to strengthening its greening efforts to improve the local community's well-being.
