As part of a corporate commitment announced last year by Ports America to eventually certify all its terminals in the Green Marine environmental program, the company’s next phase will involve enrolling six new locations for the 2023 certification.
Joining the already certified Baltimore terminal on the East Coast, there will be three terminals from within the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, specifically: the Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT), the Port Newark Auto Terminal (PNAT), and the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.
On the West Coast, two terminals in California are joining Green Marine, the Ports America terminal in Port Hueneme and the West Basin Container Terminal (WBCT) in Los Angeles. In the U.S. Gulf, Ports America’s container and bulk operations in New Orleans will become certified.
Since its founding in 1921, Ports America has driven more than a century’s worth of innovation in stevedoring, cargo handling, and stellar terminal operations. With its head office in Jersey City, New Jersey, Ports America is the largest marine terminal operator in North America with operations in 70 locations and 33 ports across the United States. The company is a leader in technology-driven solutions and provides a wide range of supply chain services, including container, breakbulk, automotive, military, and cruise ship operations.
