RanMarine Technology showcases plastic-waste amassing technologies at CES 2023

December 13, 2022

CleanTech Robotics startup RanMarine Technology has come up with a way to help eliminate the plastic waste polluting oceans, and to prevent such waste from reaching open waters.

Its MegaShark is an electrically controlled floating drone that is designed to clear waterways, canals, rivers, and ports of plastic before it reaches the ocean. With an eight-hour electric battery capacity, the MegaShark operates emissions-free using powerful suction jets to capture and compact plastic waste.

RanMarine Technology’s SharkPod is the world’s first autonomous floating docking station for waste-clearing drones. With its ability to deploy, dock and charge up to five of the company’s drone technologies at any time, the SharkPod makes it possible for ports and cities to operate a 24-hour autonomous solution for removing floating waste from waterways.

The company is also introducing a drone capable of collecting floating trash and biomass, as well as carrying light cargo.

In early January, RanMarine Technology showcased MegaShark at CES 2023, which is considered one of the world’s most influential tech events.

RanMarine Technology is eager to put its line of products and services to use in preventing the 11 million metric tons of plastic waste entering oceans annually – a volume expected to triple by 2040, according to UN Environmental Program’s estimations, if preventive measures aren’t taken.
