Quebec extends deadline for transportation efficiency assistance programs

December 15, 2020

The Quebec Ministry of Transportation has extended its intermodal and energy efficiency programs for the marine, air and rail modes for an additional three months to March 31.

With 44% of Quebec’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by the transportation sector, the provincial government established two financial assistance programs in 2019 specifically for this sector to reduce GHGs. A total of $40 million is available as follows:

  • A $30-million envelope has been established for initiatives to reduce or avoid GHG emissions through the development of intermodal transportation.
  • There is another $10 million designated to support projects that improve the efficiency of marine, air or rail transportation by reducing or avoid GHG emissions.

Applications must be submitted by February 14, 2021, to be processed before the program closes March 31, 2021.
