Quebec allocates more than $4.4 million to St. Lawrence biodiversity

April 9, 2024

The Government of Quebec is granting $4,480,000 to the St. Lawrence Action Fund to finance restoration projects such as biodiversity in Marine Protected Areas (MPA) of the St. Lawrence by 2028. This allocation comes from the $650 million budget of the Nature 2030 Plan aligning with the goals of the Kunming Global Biodiversity Framework at COP15 in Montreal.

The St. Lawrence Action Fund aims to improve the health of coastal and marine ecosystems by financially supporting initiatives by third-party organizations to restore natural environments of high ecological importance. It also provides funding for knowledge transfer projects to raise awareness of the impacts of human activities on these natural environments.
