PSA Halifax is switching to electric RTGs

PSA Halifax, a rapidly expanding container terminal operator on Canada’s Atlantic Coast, is replacing its existing diesel front end loaders and reach stackers at its Atlantic Hub terminal with all-electric rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes.

The initial four electric RTGs manufactured by Konecranes in Finland arrived in early May. Another four new units are expected in the latter half of the year. The shift to electric RTGs promises to significantly reduce carbon emissions, improve productivity and decrease maintenance downtime.
