PSA Halifax adds Fairview Cove Terminal to its Green Marine certification

With natural deep-water, capability to handle any-sized vessel, year-round ice-free access, and a management team with diverse international experience, PSA Halifax is the container terminal of choice on Canada’s East Coast. It is the only container terminal with Super Post Panamax cranes and has no navigational or nautical restrictions.

Fairview Cove is the second PSA Halifax terminal to join the program, highlighting its ongoing commitment to sustainable port operations.

Spanning about 28.3 hectares (70 acres), the Fairview Cove Terminal provides 700 metres (2,297 linear feet) of dock with a minimum of 16,8 metres (55 feet) of water depth along the entire length of the berth. It operates four gantry cranes, three of which are super post-Panamax, alongside on-dock double-stack rail and a secure truck marshalling yard.

To obtain the Green Marine certification, PSA Halifax will assess both of its terminals’ environmental performance through indicators that address issues such as the reduction of air emissions, the mitigation of cargo losses and dust in dry bulk handling, and the prevention of spills and stormwater contamination.
