The Port of Trois-Rivières has received $87.1 million from Transport Canada’s National Trade Corridors Fund to improve its terminal infrastructure. The investment will help to refurbish Pier 17, build a new Pier 16, develop the adjacent terminals, as well as consolidate and enhance the activities of port users Alcoa and G3 Canada (also a Green Marine participant).
A major step forward in terms of sustainable development, the upgrades will provide Alcoa and G3 with the opportunity to install new fully electric undercover loading and unloading equipment. The new docks will provide the basic infrastructure required for the subsequent installation of plug-in power for ships at berth.
The port serves a pivotal role in regional, national and international economic development for aluminum, forestry, agri-food and other major industrial sectors. By investing in this major project, the founding Green Marine participant will optimize the reception of raw materials, improve operational performance, and reduce its environmental footprint with state-of-the-art technology.
