The Port of San Diego invited the public to provide input on what should be considered during the Seaport San Diego redevelopment project’s environmental review process.
Encompassing a significant area within Central Embarcadero, the proposed redevelopment will encompass parks, piers and marinas, commercial fishing facilities, an urban beach, plazas and other retail outlets, restaurants, visitor attractions and hospitality venues, as well as educational facilities. It covers approximately 39 acres (15.7 hectares) of land and 63 acres (25.5 hectares) of water area.
As the lead agency overseeing the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project, the Port of San Diego has issued a Notice of Preparation of a draft EIR as its first step. During the 33-day review period, the port conducted two public scoping meetings and invited written comments on environmental concerns.
Following an environmental analysis, the draft EIR will be issued for public review and comment in the Fall of 2024.
