The Quebec Port Authority has unveiled its first-ever sustainable development action plan. The action plan, covering the years 2014 and 2015, represents the first major step taken by the port authority in 2013 towards officially making the port in Quebec City a sustainable development enterprise.
Its action plan is based on consultations with key stakeholders during the course of the past several months. The consultations were led by members of the Port of Quebec community relations committee, as well as a vigilance committee that oversees the port’s activities.
Three major objectives were subsequently established with the goal of ensuring a better quality of life for both the existing community and future generations. The three objectives led to identifying 16 priority actions that would permit the organization to lay the foundations of a progressive and participatory sustainable development process.
