The Port of Prince Rupert celebrated a successful cleanup of nearby shorelines ahead of Earth Day with the help of 80 local volunteers. The event organized by the port garnered support from numerous partners, including volunteers from some 18 corporations.
Green Marine participants Trigon, Altagas and Pembina were involved, along with Green Marine partners McElhanney, Magna IV Engineering INC, AtkinsRéalis, Hatfield, and Green Marine supporter Ocean Wise. Alicja Rudzki, a Green Marine verifier, also helped.
Almost 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of garbage were collected from three areas – Seal Cove, Hays Creek, and Northland Cruise Terminal – to clean up nearly four kilometres (almost 2.5 miles) of the community.
