As part of a sustainability commitment that includes minimizing community impacts, the Port of Montreal recently completed a major lighting upgrade at its Bickerdike Terminal in the port’s Cité du Havre sector.
Old high-pressure sodium lights have been replaced with energy-efficient LED models designed to reduce light pollution. A total of 37 fixtures were replaced on the lighting towers, while 18 new ones were installed on warehouse roofs, and 20 wall-mounted fixtures were upgraded. A smart control system was also implemented to adjust light intensity based on operational needs, further reducing the impact on the surrounding area.
The initiative reflects the port’s commitment to reducing its neighborhood footprint while making its facilities more efficient and sustainable.
