Port of Montreal contributes to the protection of species at risk

The Port of Montreal is donating $50,000 to the Species at Risk Fund, an initiative of the Space for Life Foundation, to help accelerate conservation work and research on species at risk.

While the St. Lawrence River is essential to port activities, it represents a complex ecosystem and is home to certain threatened species for which there is no recent scientific data.

This contribution to the fund will make it possible to finance research projects on plant and animal species in the Greater Montreal area, such as the copper redhorse, the monarch butterfly and the chorus frog. By deepening the knowledge about their natural regional ecosystems, concrete measures can be implemented to protect them.
