The Belledune Port Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges to work together to set up a supply chain for clean fuels and greener manufactured goods, with the priority on hydrogen and its derivates.
Officialized at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, the MoU aims to strengthen port infrastructure resilience and efficiency for more sustainable industrial growth. Antwerp-Bruges is the fourth European port to partner with the Belledune Port Authority in building corridors dedicated to clean energy exports.
At the core of this vision is the Green Energy Hub – a renewable energy and green industry development district on land owned and managed by the port. With support from the New Brunswick and Canadian governments, the project aims to establish the port as a key regional and international green hydrogen centre.
Highlighted in New Brunswick’s Energy Strategy and the federal government’s 2024 Hydrogen Strategy update, the strategy emphasizes the commitment by the Port of Belledune as a Green Marine participant to accelerate the clean energy transition and strengthen Canada’s leadership in clean energy.
