The Port of New Orleans received a Clean Fleet Award on July 9. Organized by the Regional Planning Commission’s Clean Fuel Partnership in New Orleans and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, the Clean Fleet Awards recognized 30 local business leaders that committed to reducing emissions through the use of cleaner alternative fuels, fuel-saving technologies or innovative fleet practices in 2018. The combined efforts of these 30 businesses set two regional records by reducing approximately 4,781,105 gasoline gallons equivalent (18,098,451 litres), which averted 31,917 tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions – the air quality equivalent of taking 6,939 typical passenger vehicles off the road according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
