Port Metro Vancouver introduces new GPS dashboard

In early 2013, Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) announced Smart Fleet, a three-year action plan to improve collaboration, reliability and long-term sustainability of the container truck sector.  PMV has equipped 700 Truck Licensing System (TLS) container trucks with GPS transponder units, which represents approximately 50% of the fleet. It has also made available a new, real-time GPS Dashboard that provides the most current status of road and average in-gate wait times based on the previous hour, as well as marine container terminals’ turn times.

Port Metro Vancouver has also launched a new app for Apple iOS and Android devices. The free app is packed with helpful information, including how to identify the different types of ships in harbour, and the ways that the port contributes to community and facilitates quality of life.
