OneOcean Group introduces the industry’s first environmental planner

OneOcean Group, a maritime software solution provider, has launched its Active Environmental Timeline, an environmental planner that indicates in real time the environmental rules and restrictions that apply during a given voyage to reduce the risk of non-compliance. The new tool expands OneOcean’s platform capability by integrating navigational and environmental planning into a simplified workflow.

When a route is entered into the system, the Active Environmental Timeline will list the environmental events that can safely and legally take place aboard a vessel during a rolling 12-hour window, based on the ship’s departure time, its current position, and speed. Refreshing every three minutes, the timeline will adjust to a route’s changes based on a delayed departure or a speed variation.

The timeline displays action outcomes, such as discharges and emissions, which are detailed by category and can be organized according to a user’s specifications. The timeline indicates how long the ship is likely to remain in the zone where vessels must comply with regulations or stringent company guidelines. Colour codes indicate whether the status is green, meaning legal; amber indicating legal with conditions; or red which signifies that an activity is prohibited by law.

By integrating all aspects of navigational planning with environmental requirements, the tool reduces the workload for mariners and facilitates optimized decision-making.
