New toolkit developed to reduce shipping impacts on marine protected areas

WWF-Canada, West Coast Environmental Law and East Coast Environmental Law have created a toolkit to raise awareness regarding marine protected areas (MPAs) as well as identify possible ways to reduce the impacts from shipping.
Marine protection in Canada is increasing in terms of societal importance and research-based understanding and responses. Marine species face a number of stressors, including underwater noise, ship strikes, and vessel discharges, even in protected areas.
The toolkit provides information and resources that MPA practitioners and navigation experts can use to reduce impacts in Canada.
