Green Marine delivered its final report to the Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers (GSGP) on green shipping’s best practices.
This study focuses on environmental issues prioritized by the GSGP. The report includes:
- a survey of maritime transportation’s best environmental management practices and the new technologies recently implemented by Green Marine participants in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence region along with other industry stakeholders elsewhere;
- a review of relevant governmental environmental policies and programs in Canada and the U.S.;
- the opportunities for innovative financing mechanisms to reduce the industry’s environmental impacts; and,
- high-level strategies and recommendations to advance the environmental performance of the martime transportation system.
The study was carried out from December 2020 to May 2021, and the final report was delivered in July 2021.
The Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers unites the chief executives from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Québec and Wisconsin.
