New participant Levin Richmond Terminal Corporation sets sail toward cleaner bulk operations

July 26, 2025

The Levin Richmond Terminal Corporation (LRTC) is a privately held deepwater bulk marine terminal located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Along with its sister company, the Richmond Pacific Railroad, it has been serving national and international customers for over 80 years, working as an integrated partner in the movement of its products by ship, rail, and truck.

The company’s values focus on safety, environmental stewardship, employee development and support, local community engagement, and a high level of customized service. It recognizes that environmental sustainability is essential to responsible growth.

The LRTC has implemented advanced stormwater treatment and recycling systems and has installed a comprehensive network of windscreens and water misters to minimize fugitive dust. Although much of its conveyance equipment is already electrically operated, the company is replacing diesel equipment with zero-emission EV equipment and electrical charging stations for this equipment and its employees’ EVs. The company also buys 100% of its electricity from renewable sources. It currently operates four Tier 4 Final locomotives, the cleanest locomotives now available.

The terminal and railroad define the success of their respective businesses not only by the returns for shareholders but also by the community benefits generated by the business’ as well as the minimized impact their operations have on the environment. The Levin Richmond Terminal Corporation envisions continued economic growth and job creation as it works responsibly to continually seek ways to lower its impact on the environment.
