New carbon accounting toolset released by RightShip

January 31, 2022

RightShip has launched an enhanced toolset for monitoring, measuring and reporting shipping-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The new carbon accounting and reporting toolset builds on RightShip’s expertise in carbon accounting supplied to charterers and freight forwarders over the last five years. It now provides companies with a reporting tool that can benchmark, monitor, and measure their GHG emissions over defined periods of time.

Such enhanced reporting capabilities are welcomed at a time when bulk commodity producers in the mining and oil and gas sectors, as well as freight forwarders, traders and investors face mounting pressure to demonstrate reductions in their Scope 3 emissions as defined by the World Resources Institute. Shipping constitutes a significant part of these indirect supply-chain-related emissions.

Once calculations are made with this new toolset, carbon outputs and critical emission hotspots can be identified and used to establish viable paths to emission reductions.
