NEAS Group featured on the podcast Le Parc en 30 Minutes

October 8, 2025

The podcast Le Parc en 30 Minutes recently welcomed Daniel Dagenais, CEO of NEAS Group and a member of Green Marine International’s Board of Directors, for an in-depth conversation about maritime transport’s challenges and progress in northern Canada.

Presented by VIA 90.5 in collaboration with the Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB) and hosted by retired journalist Marc Rochette alongside SPIPB president and CEO Donald Olivier, the podcast offers weekly insights into the key players driving the region’s industrial and port development by discussing the projects, challenges, and successes of local organizations.

In the Oct. 6th episode, Dagenais addressed the unique challenges of maritime transport in Canada’s Far North, including seasonal operations, harsh weather conditions, and logistical constraints serving approximately 50 northern communities. He also stressed the importance of an inclusive approach with Inuit communities, noting that the NEAS Group prioritizes hiring Inuit crew members for its vessels.

The conversation also touched on the maritime industry’s environmental transition. Daniel Dagenais highlighted NEAS’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, including exploring electric technologies and energy-efficient practices. These initiatives reflect the company’s commitment to making northern transportation a model of sustainability and protection of Arctic ecosystems.

The episode shines a light on a lesser-known reality: the crucial role maritime transport plays in northern communities and the strategic importance of ports like Bécancour in Canada’s sustainable supply chain.
