As part of Phase 2 of its campaign to promote the maritime industry, the St. Lawrence Economic Development Council has updated its unique one-stop Maritime Information Bureau (MIB). The MIB website has also been enhanced. The Environment section now includes international and national environmental regulations with hyperlinks to the official texts regarding the subsections relevant to dredging, aquatic invasive species, atmospheric emissions and wastewater, as well as the mitigation measures implemented where required. Information on the industry’s voluntary measures to reduce the risks and impacts of marine mammal collisions has also been added, as well as a section on emerging issues. MIB’s primary goal is to provide access to factually verified information and industry expertise. It is a way to gather information requests and disseminate information beyond the industry.
