The Port of San Diego is celebrating Green Port Month throughout September with various activities, including employee educational events and environmental awards. The port also sponsors a site cleanup with this year’s event scheduled for September 21. A highlight of Green Port Month is the annual Green Port Year in Review. This document outlines the Port’s environmental achievements and was presented at the September 16 Board of Port Commissioners meeting.
As part of its 2018-2019 environmental efforts, the port installed 27 electric vehicle charging stations at three port facilities. The port also implemented a terminal stormwater action plan, provided water quality and biological monitoring efforts for 10 in-water construction projects within San Diego Bay, launched the first commercial seaweed aquaculture project in San Diego Bay, and became Green Marine certified.
