As part of the Québec Research and Innovation Investment Strategy (Stratégie québécoise de recherche et d'investissement en innovation - (SQRI)2) 2022-2027, the Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie du Québec has allocated $10.25 million to the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies, with the aim of transforming the St. Lawrence River into a major engine of economic development, while preserving its ecosystem.
This contribution will support the Quebec Maritime Network, a supporter of Green Marine and a key player in the realization of the Avantage Saint-Laurent project.
The funding will also enable the launch of calls for proposals in the maritime research sector to fully exploit the potential of the river and its resources, by encouraging collaboration between university researchers, economic and government partners, and users of maritime research results.
What's more, the Quebec Maritime Network recently launched a call for projects for young researchers to encourage the next generation of researchers and broaden the horizons and scope of the Research Program on the Mitigation of the Impacts of Commercial Shipping and Port Activities on Ecosystems (PLAINE).
