The Green Marine supporter International Secretariat for Water has launched a call for projects that aim to interest and engage youth in water management in the context of the global pandemic. As the world faces a global health emergency, 2.2 billion people – one in three individuals – do not have access to safely managed domestic water supply services, and 4.2 billion – half of the world’s population – does not have access to safely managed sanitation services. Globally, 40% of households lack soap and water handwashing facilities. The risks related to the current global COVID-19 pandemic are therefore exacerbated for the most vulnerable and marginalized populations.
This call for projects has been designed to identify, encourage, and support youth engagement related to water management and climate change adaptation in the current global pandemic context. More specifically, for proposals that aim to support initiatives regarding water and health, water and agriculture, water-related risks, and water sharing. Youth aged 18 and 35 are welcomed to submit their project until June 7, 2020.
