The Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To commemorate this important milestone, the CIP is holding a series of events throughout the year, including a myriad of online courses and webinars.
For the past quarter century, the CIP has demonstrated an enduring commitment to – and recent advancements in – serving as a permanent inter-American forum for strengthening hemispheric cooperation in the area of port sector development.
Against the backdrop of pandemic-related disruptions for the port industry, CIP was successful in reinventing itself to become a hemispheric benchmark for high-level online training by offering thousands of professionalization scholarships to port personnel from 33 member states. Since 2020, the CIP has organized 46 webinars on various priority topics, presenting best practices and expert presentations to more than 3,600 port personnel.
The trust and support of all OAS member-state port authorities have been vital to CIP’s success, bringing knowledge, expertise and resources to the organization. Today, the CIP is engaged in high-level projects, programs and specific technical assistance in the areas of security, competitiveness, and sustainability, along with efforts to support ports in their journey towards digitalizing their operations.
