Seaspan has unveiled its two new electric shuttle buses adorned with captivating Indigenous artwork, a collaborative effort with local artists Olivia George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation (səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ), and Ray Natraoro of the Squamish Nation (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw).
“We’re honoured to partner with these talented Indigenous creators and to support local artists,” Scott Boylan, Seaspan’s Transportation lead, says.
Relating the story of the land and its people with these contemporary artworks, the eco-friendly shuttles play an essential role in sustainably transporting Seaspan's workforce to and from the Pemberton campus in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
“The delivery of these shuttles is nothing short of revolutionary for Seaspan and our province,” Boylan says.
With a range of approximately 160 kilometres (99.4 miles) on a single charge, the shuttles utilize ChargePoint's first Level 3 charger in Canada, which facilitates a rapid 30-minute recharge and significantly decreases Seaspan's carbon footprint.
“This represents another step forward in our sustained continuous journey to be responsible stewards of the lands we call home, and what a privilege to showcase this beautiful artwork across North Vancouver every day,” Boylan says.
