HOPA Ports contributes its bulk cargo expertise to the PIER

August 17, 2026

The Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA Ports) has joined the PIER, the living lab at the Port of Halifax dedicated to collaboratively finding innovative supply chain solutions. HOPA Ports is adding its expertise in port operations and bulk cargo to the PIER’s network of industry, research and technology partners.

The partnership expands the PIER’s port-focused capabilities while creating a setting for HOPA Ports to collaborate with other members on finding practical solutions to supply chain challenges. The organizations will work toward solutions that can strengthen supply chain resilience and support trade diversification.

HOPA Ports’ participation will include work on supply chain visibility and on the safety and efficiency of bulk cargo operations. It will also support environmental initiatives that promote more sustainable supply chains.

Through this partnership, HOPA Ports joins organizations focused on co-creating, testing, and accelerating solutions intended to benefit Canada’s economy, local communities, and the environment.
